About Social Anxiety Groups

Social Anxiety Groups was founded by Nick Hanlon in 2008 to help address the worldwide shortage of social anxiety support groups. It is hard enough for social anxiety sufferers to set about starting a support group, so Social Anxiety Groups provides the information and support they need to make the process easier.

Support is obtained through the forums and blog on this website and the information provided is modelled on the success of the SA West; one of the UK’s longest running and most established social anxiety support groups. We also hope to offer websites to all social anxiety specific groups if they need one.

Not only is it hard for social anxiety sufferers to start groups, it is also hard for their potential members to find out up-to-date information about them. By providing a database of groups we not allow members to find out which group is in their area and also allow groups to network. Because we make it easy for groups to instantly update their details, we hope that up-to-date group information will be available to all.

Social Anxiety Groups operates as an internet based organisation run by volunteers. Our services are financially supported by the ‘Social Anxiety to Social Confidence’ website at www.socialanxiety.co.uk.
